BRMC GRASS AUTOTEST CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 FIRST ROUND – 13 MAY
Sunday 13 May dawned warm and sunny, fortunately, staying that way for the first round of the 2018 BRMC Grass Autotest Championship. Straight away, our thanks must go to Harry Sherrard, who very kindly allows the club to use a field at his Kestrel Farm to stage the championship. Harry puts a great deal of effort into preparing and maintaining the test area, without which, there would be no championship.
This being the first event of the year on the field which had not completely dried out, the surface was slick and did cut up (sorry Harry) as the day went on. As a result the number of tests were reduced from ten to eight. Nevertheless, sixteen drivers took part and there was skilled and spirited driving from them all; several of whom were first timers. A good days motor sport was had by everyone taking part. The use of two club cars was a particular success.
Thanks must also go to the members of the Goodwood Marshals Club, as well as other BRMC members and helpers, who made sure everything went smoothly on the day.
Congratulations to the winners who were:
Overall fastest time of the day:
Colin Molyneux.
Class A: Saloons with engine over driven wheels:
Kevin Lawrence.
Class B: No entrants.
Class C: Sports cars and specials:
Oliver Holmes.
Finally, a matter that caused quite a bit of amusement, the overall winner drove a Fiesta with advertising on it for his driving school! This included a plastic sign on the roof! There was much debate amongst the other drivers as to whether it constituted a performance enhancing aerodynamic device?
NEXT ROUND OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS ON SUNDAY 17 JUNE – GET YOUR ENTRIES IN ASAP.
